Day (Post) 7: The Red Truck
Well guys, before I share my memory, I want to apologize for this huge gap in between posts. My life has been terribly busy and I've been beating myself up for not posting. This memory is my of my brother Michael and I's favorites, so I hope you enjoy!
Michael (my oldest brother) always had “the greatest ideas,” and being the
awesome baby sister that I am, I typically went along with them. Let’s see, I
was probably between the ages of six and nine. Mike and I had
driven his red truck over to my grandma Bonnie’s house, about half a mile down
the road, to pick something up for my mom, I believe. When we headed back and
pulled into our driveway (which is about half a mile long itself) Mike had this
bright idea to have me “drive the truck” up the lane so that we could freak my
mom out. I, for once, thought that this was brilliant and agreed to go along with
it! To make it believable, he held me on his lap, strapped us in, but then
leaned over on the seat. This way, he could still control the peddles, but
wouldn’t be able to be seen when my mom looked out the window. We were coming
up to the house, so I started honking the horn repeatedly until my mom showed
up at the door. When I saw her, I started waving and had the biggest grin on my
face. She was so shocked!! She looked like she might pass out, or as Michael
would say, “poop her pants!” She started to come outside when Mike sat up in
the seat! It was such an epic moment. We might have gotten into a tiny bit of
trouble, but it was all worth it. (:
